We cherish time with our kids - and grandchildren now, but we also try to cherish time when it’s just the two of us together.  Sometimes we just have to say - we are going, just the two of us. 

It’s important to make that time. Our family is always really happy for us that we do that. For us this is a break from the routine, this is about us. A chance to recharge. Taking time out can feel like an indulgence, but, having an adventure together, exploring new places, trying new things, it is good for us, strengthens our bond together as a couple. It fills our cup. That is important to us. It is definitely less about the destination, or sticking to the plan as such. 

Exploring together makes us feel alive - particularly being immersed in nature, outside, in the sea, in the fresh air.  Having new experiences together. 

We are older now, but we are still vibrant - we can still grow and learn.  We are creating memories and having fun. 

Learning something new - like surfing, we don’t have to be great at it. It’s not about that. It’s about having fun, being willing to have the go. Letting go and being silly together. We’ve always loved the beach and the water. 

As you get older you do realize that it’s about the simple things in life. Just having that time together.
