Can you sleep anywhere in a motorhome in Australia?

Accepted Answer

There are lots of options to camp overnight in Australia but you can’t camp everywhere. Each state may have different rules so it pays to check before you park up for the night.

There are a couple of useful apps called [CamperMate](https://campermate.com/category/au/campsites) and [Wikicamps](https://www.wikicamps.com.au/) which provide details of campgrounds, caravan parks, and free camping spots, which are great reference to see where you can and can’t stay.

The Australian state’s national parks websites also provide information on free camping spots.

Do you allow one way motorhome hires in Australia?

Accepted Answer

We give customers the flexibility to pick up and drop off the motorhomes at any of our [eight branches in Australia](https://www.starrv.com/au/motorhome-hire-locations-au). The applicable one-way fee for your chosen vehicle and direction will get added as you put together a quote on our website.

Please note, all one-way hires must be approved by Star RV and are offered subject to availability.

How much does it cost to rent a motorhome in Australia?

Accepted Answer

The price to rent a motorhome in Australia depends on the size of motorhome you would like to hire, when you would like to travel (Winter will generally be cheaper than Summer), how far in advance you make your booking, and optional extras you may choose to include (i.e. camping chairs).

How old do you have to be to hire a motorhome in Australia?

To hire a motorhome with Star RV you will need to be over 21 years old.

Question 5

What licence do I need to drive a motorhome in Australia?

Accepted Answer

We accept bookings from drivers who are over 21 years old who hold:

- A Full driver licence in English
- An Australian Green P (P2) Licence. We do NOT accept Learners Licence or any probationary Licences, including a Red P Plate or a P1 Licence.
-  If the licence is not in English then you will need an International Driver Permit or a NAATI approved Certified Translation of your Driver Licence issued in the country of hire. This must accompany the original home country driver licence.

What’s included with my motorhome hire?

Accepted Answer

Our motorhomes come with all the essentials to ensure you have a comfortable holiday. This includes:

- Cutlery and dinnerware
- Kitchen equipment and utensils
- Linen, pillows, and duvet
- Bath towels and tea towel
- AA roadside breakdown assistance
- Unlimited kilometres

You can also hire a number of extra items for your Star RV motorhome:

- Camping chair: $18/hire
- Camping table: $25/hire
- Snow chains (these are required for certain roads in the South Island during winter): $50/hire 
- Prepaid gas bottle refill $35
- Fan heater $20
- Booster Seat $40
- Baby Seat $40
- Extra Driver $2 per day
- Pet Fee $299
