Fatima: Exploring New Zealand’s Hidden Gems

My family and I decided to go on a road trip because we wanted to create lasting memories as a family while exploring the stunning landscapes of New Zealand. Traveling in a Star RV Polaris 6 gave us the freedom to go at our own pace, stop wherever we wanted, and enjoy the convenience of having everything we needed with us. Plus, it was a chance to unplug, bond, and show our kids the beauty of the far north of New Zealand.

We went as a family of four; me, my husband, and our two young children. It was the perfect way to spend quality time together, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We also got to catch up with extended family in Ōrewa, which made the trip even more special.

We traveled north, exploring areas like Paihia, Russell, Taupō Bay, Mangawhai Heads, and Ōrewa. This region is known for its stunning beaches, rich history, and laid-back charm, making it the perfect destination for a family road trip.

Before the trip, the north of New Zealand was a bucket-list destination, somewhere we’d always wanted to explore but hadn’t yet had the chance to visit. Now, after our trip, the far north holds a special place in our hearts. It’s where we shared unforgettable moments as a family, building sandcastles, exploring historic sites, and watching sunsets together. The region has become a symbol of adventure, connection, and relaxation for us.

Our favourite experience along the way was definitely our time at Taupō Bay. The moment we arrived, we were blown away by its beauty, the golden sand, crystal-clear water, and the dramatic green hills surrounding the bay made it feel like a hidden paradise.

What made it so special was how peaceful and untouched it felt. We spent the whole day playing on the beach, building sandcastles, and walking along the shoreline. It was one of those rare moments where everything just felt perfect. No distractions, no schedules, just us enjoying nature and each other’s company.
